One of the only festivals that Rotting Corpse was looking forward to this summer "Days like this" will not be returning for a 2011 edition. The press release reads as follows:
After a stellar debut in 2009 and follow up in 2010, Niche Productions and Waterfall Entertainment have decided that January 2011 will not be brightened by Days Like This!
After much deliberation, soul searching and many sleepless nights, we have decided to postpone the 2011 festival and look at a new date option for the festival’s return.
In January 2009, Days Like This! was launched as an alternative for the Sydney music followers and featured the likes of Fat Freddy’s Drop, Public Enemy, Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings as well as many more local and international names.
January 2010 saw the festival’s spectacular follow up featuring Roots Manuva, Method Man & Redman, The Cat Empire and Cat Power. Heralded as a breath of fresh air for festival-goers, Days Like This! is a boutique festival, featuring a hand crafted line up, gourmet food and world class facilities.
In what has been a busy year for Niche Productions, including shows from hip hop legends A Tribe Called Quest, the decision to postpone was made with a heavy heart.
Rest assured, you will be hearing more from us soon, so make sure you find us on Facebook and sign up to our mailing list so that you stay in the know.
Take this how you want, but its proof of the overcrowded Australian festival scene and the average punters reluctance to give the smaller festivals a chance. This was one of Rotting Corpse's favourite, If not favourite festivals and its sad to see it put on the back burner.
Lets hope Niche bring it back for 2012 and its not relegated to history like The Great Escape Festival, Livid festival and All Tomorrows Parties.
